Standard Grip Stocks: LAW483 Standard Grip Recoil Pad Stock
"I took a Defensive carbine class on Saturday and decided to give the AR-15 some .30 cal competition. I contacted LAW483 and asked if he could whip up a short LOP M1A stock for me to try out in the class. I must say it worked fantastic. It handled like a dream. The only time I even noticed the rifle's weight was during the 1 handed shooting. After the class everyone got to try it out and there were quite a few comments like 'I think I see one of these in MY future' LAW is a great guy and was eager to help me out. The stock turned out great and I don't think this will be the last one I get from him. Here's a couple pics. (note the empty brass under the front sight)"
Tony, Stock received. It is OUTSTANDING!! I thought I may have problems with the rubber pad (I like the steel butt plate), but after setting my rifle into the stock for a test fit, all reservations were gone. No snagging and fast presentation, just what I wanted. Should make for a good 3 gun rifle as well as a hunter. Great product, great fit and finish, great customer service. Keep up the good work and I'll keep checking out your website for your further updates. Thanks again, This model we called the MPG Carbine; MPG stood for Military, Police, Government. We called this a carbine stock as it has the sling swivels on the side for use with tactical slings. This particular stock has the selector unfilled, light overall texturing with USGI checkering. The Pachmayr SC100 pad works very well for quick shouldering in a CQB stance as well as with body armor. The customer requested no clear coat so he could camo the stock himself. This customer prefered a smooth overall finish with heavy grip texturing, a Houge recoil pad, and USGI sling swivels. The LOP is 11.5" for tactical use, along with a Scout mount cut-out in the handgard.
Tony's (Law483) stock made the rifle handle like a dream - perfect balance and super quick handling! The short LOP stock makes a big difference shooting off-hand compared to the standard USGI stock. The recoil pad was KEY after putting almost 1200 rounds through the gun last weekend. Everyone in the class really liked the set-up. Even the instructors really dug it! For anyone with a Scout or Bush rifle, I highly recommend dropping Tony a line to get one of these if you plan on doing shooting beyond the bench. You get a SOCOM-sized package without the funky gas system, cycling issues and increased muzzle blast/flash of the 16" barrel.
I took the bush M14 and the stock through a tactical carbine class this weekend. I have to tell you that the balance and handling were awesome. I did not feel the weight of the rifle at all. Everyone in the class really liked the Bush rifle/short stock combo, including the instructors who are ex-SWAT officers.
The optional Single-Point Sling Adapter can be removed to suit the operator's needs. The front sling swivel can be side-mounted as well to mount your favorite tactical sling.
The Pachmayr D550 recoil pad was chosen, as well as the orange-peel texture with the GI checkering.
